About Me
Welcome! I'm glad you are here and hope you find this a refreshing, hopeful place.
I'm Jolene. Yes, like the song by Dolly Parton. No, don't sing it to me. And no, I don't plan to steal your man (if you don't know the song look it up and you'll understand what I mean).
I don't want to say too much about myself. I expect that you'll find that out through different posts along the way. What I will say is that I hope that this time here inspires and keeps you looking up.
The concept of 'Flowers Will Bloom' as my blog was born out of a trip to Ecuador to visit my sponsored child in 2017. I was struck by the exotic flowers around every corner in Quito and they made me feel hopeful as a reflected on life and some of the things I was going through at the time. I figured that the idea of flowers blooming in hard times was a concept we could all hold onto and relate to in dark seasons.
Thus, I hope this blog always contains the idea that even in the midst of mess and really deep struggles, there can be light and there can be hope. I am the first to agree that life is not simple and never turns out exactly like we planned; nonetheless, there are flowers. Whether I am writing about life or about different social justice issues I am passionate about, I desire to keep the message that there is a better, more hopeful way central.
I hope you enjoy your time here and feel inspired to keep living and loving in difficult and hard places.
With the wind in my hair,
Jolene
